Can you install a stairlift on curved or spiral
stairs?
At ACME Home Elevator, we've never met a
set of stairs we couldn't put a lift on. Stairlifts can run
on either side of the stairs. They can take an inside or outside
curve and maneuver through landings easily managing 90 and
180-degree turns. (The stair diagrams show you how they work.)
Can you install a stairlift outside?
Yes. In fact, there are models specifically
manufactured with outdoor conditions in mind. An outdoor unit is
weatherized to protect against the elements and comes with a chair
cover. To prevent unauthorized use by others, it is equipped with
a keyed operation system.
How much weight can a stair chair hold?
It depends on the manufacturer of the lift,
but a stair chair can accommodate up to 350 pounds.
What happens when the electricity goes out?
Many stairlifts provided by ACME Home Elevator
operate on battery power when you've lost power to your home.
Is a stairlift the same as a stairglide?
Stairlifts are called many different names,
including stairglide, stair chair, chair lift, battery-powered chair,
stairway lift, stairway elevator, staircase chair and stair climber.
They're also thought of as home medical equipment and durable medical
equipment.
Is the cost of a stairlift covered by my medical
insurance or Medicare?
Medicare does not cover the cost of a stairlift.
Some private insurers do. Check your policy or talk with your
agent to determine what applies in your situation.
Is there any regret homeowners have expressed
about installing a stairlift?
In more than 30 years of the founder's experience
the only regret he's heard is: Why did I wait so long?
Can someone come see my home and talk with me
about a stairlift with no obligation?
